Let's talk about pigeons ;)
Hi Reader,
Before I talk about pigeons I forgot to mention I’ve been on Instagram live again with fellow artist and teacher Erika Lancaster. We talked about how working small is to our benefit and you can watch the replay here. We have another one coming up this Monday at 1 pm CST over on our Instagrams (mine is @artiststrong).
Now, why the heck is Carrie talking about birds?! I’ll tell you now.
It is with delight that I introduce artist Shae Irving to you. She generously offered to share her journey to finding her unique voice in our latest How to Be an Artist feature.
Her work resonates with me on several levels:
>> she created a path to sharing a message that speaks to her values through her art
>> her realization that all this time when she thought she wanted to be a writer, she might have been an artist instead (or maybe, too?)
>> how her art captures a clear personality in her portraits of… pigeons!
Shae shares a whole bunch of resources and links to great examples and I’ve made sure her interview is jam-packed with images of her art 🙂
Take a read and be sure to comment and tell Shae (and me!) what lessons you’ve learned from her experience.
Lastly, I’m excited to announce that I have a new workshop available for you to watch, today if you’re ready for it! This workshop is completely on demand (and free) so you can watch it at your own pace after you sign up.
It’s called How to Create Art From Your Imagination and you can sign up to start watching it >>by clicking here.<<
You will also have an opportunity to learn more about Self-Taught to Self-Confident, my signature program that helps artists develop their foundations and create unique art they are proud to share with others. I have a new special offer available for a limited time that I talk about at the end of the workshop, which lasts around 45 minutes.

Remember: proudly call yourself an artist.
Together we are Artist Strong!
